Vae Hamilton workshop"Brush and Beyond" Mixed Media Collage with Vae Hamilton" $245
June 15-16-17, August 24-25-26, October 12-13-14 (10am-5pm)

The emphasis is to "open the door" for exploration, creativity, freedom from stress and enjoying the experience in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media collage. Nontraditional media such as acrylic gels, texturing mediums, collage, transfers, and the use of "collected" materials will be used to strengthen your personal, unique painting styles. Value, design and composition will play an important role in this workshop. Vae Hamilton is a full time artist with over 30 years experience. She teaches throughout the Southeast and has numerous awards and participated in many prestigious exhibitions. "Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain" with Mary Dobbin $195
Includes Workbook: September 22-23-24: (10am - 5pm)
"Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw?" Beginning or experienced students will explore techniques using pencil, charcoal and graphite to ignite their drawing abilities and help further refine their drawing development. Through fun and relaxing exercises participants will see and draw from their artist-mode. Mary Dobbin’s approach is inspired by the research of Betty Edwards and enhanced with her own personal strategies to help students improve and gain confidence in their own drawing. Mary Dobbin received her masters in painting from Pratt Institute in NY and is currently living in NY City. Mary has been teaching at Caldwell Community College in Lenoir and has taught many workshops, including Hickory Museum. "Watercolor Landscape Workshop" with Freeman Beard $295
July 27-28-29: (10am - 5pm)

In this informal class Freeman Beard will start with a teaching demonstration showing how he paints a watercolor from start to finish. Photographs will be provided or the students may bring their own. The goals will be to create mood, depth, design, color and a finished painting for each student. Freeman will demonstrate a plein air painting or at least sketches to show the selection process when painting outside. (Weather permitting). Students will be working on quarter sheet paintings to allow them to try several techniques as he guides them in their process of painting. Oil Painting Workshop with Bill Farnsworth $325
July 19-20-21: 10am – 5pm

Nationally known Illustrator/fine artist Bill Farnsworth will teach a three day oil painting workshop July 19th -21st. Working from high quality photographs of varied subject matter; the student will learn how to use reference material, based on the principals of shapes, values and edges. His realistic figurative and landscape paintings express the wisdom of capturing light on canvas which is a student’s dream. "Let’s Figure It In" Figure Painting Workshop with Kate Worm $315Braitman workshop
$315 (includes model’s fee)
August 10-11-12 10:00-4:30 PM

Working with an unclothed model, Kate will emphasize composition, color and good drawing as it relates to painting. Kate’s nudes were featured in the summer 2006 issue of Watercolor Magazine. She is a popular instructor at the Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory, NC. All ability levels are welcome in watercolor and mixed media. "Abstract Landscapes in Acrylic Using Palette Knives" with Egi Antonaccio $305
June 29-30 – July 1, August 3-4-5 (10am – 5pm)

Learn to divide the light using strokes of color with pallet knives with Italian artist, Egi Antonaccio whose loose strokes create wonderful detail in this IN Plein Air workshop. Participants will experience color and the music of life through landscapes as they work from photographs to loosen their style and develop a new technique to enhance their skills in painting. "Creative Oil Paintings from Photographs" with Egi Antonaccio $305
July 13-14-15 (10am – 5pm)

Using various techniques with a limited pallet, Egi teaches all levels how to create a realistic rendering from photographs. Individual attention in any subject matter will be offered in this studio workshop to bring your best creativity to canvas. "Outside/Inside" From Color Sketch to Studio Painting –with Andrew Braitman $395
July 7-8-9 (10am – 5pm)

Workshop DemonstrationCombining color studies, oil sketches, and successful compositions, students learn to use drawings along with photographic references, to build studio paintings. Andrew teaches how to keep the freshness of the outdoor experience in your studio paintings. Students will have both outdoor and studio experience creating exciting paintings from start to finish. "Painting the Landscape using Photographic References" with Kevin Beck $305
(Pastels or Oils) 10am - 5pm
June 22-23-24, August 17-18-19, September 28-29-30
October 19-20-21, 10am - 5pm

This workshop is for beginners or advanced painters interested in learning the fundamentals of creating spontaneous fresh landscape paintings using photographs as the reference. The goal is to create life infused paintings and not a copy of a photograph. Issues to be discussed and demonstrated include:
Seeing and interpreting values, the Do’s and Don’ts of working from photographs, the painting process in Pastel and Oil, Staying "loose" and painterly and Achieving Clean Color. "Open your Heart with Art" - Expressive Arts Workshop with Toni Carlton $195

Through the modalities of art, music, movement and journaling, come explore and express your passion, joy, love and connection to spirit. For over 15 years Toni Carlton has been creating art as a means to deepen her connection to theToni Carlton divine and express the oneness of all. In her workshops she intends to help participants open their hearts through the creative process. No prior art experience is necessary. "Follow Your Intuition" Exploration in Acrylics with Debbie Arnold $145
Weekend Workshop - April 24 – 25 11:00 – 4:00pm

Intuitive painting is the merging of art and spirituality. Through painting you can connect with your own source of creativity. Intuitive painting can be used as a tool of self-discovery, helping you to understand yourself through color and form. It develops your connection with the source of all that is. This leads to deeper trust of your own internal guidance and creativity. The class will primarily use the versatile medium of acrylic, layering transparent colors and textures utilizing many different techniques –sponges, pallet knives, spattering and imprinting along with pouring layers of thinned colors onto canvas.
